Acorn Class' Great Frog Rescue!

This week in Acorn class we found a frog trapped in a tyre in the outdoor area. We are not sure how it got there but we all decided it was not a good place for it to live. So we discussed different places the frog might like to live including a bucket, an old shoe and the lavender bush.

After finding out lots of information about frogs we decided the frog would not be happy in the homes we had first thought up. We found out frogs need water and lots of bugs and flies to eat and decided the pond would be the ideal home. So we looked for different ways of rescuing the frog so we could transport it safely without hurting it. We were all really excited to release the frog into its new home.

Did you know?
Frogs breathe and drink through their skin. They adsorb water through the 'drinking patch' located on their belly and the underside of their thighs.
